Q&A - dog portrait and pet photography

all the answers you need & more

where is dogs of fun located?

I currently reside in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and mainly serve the South Florida area. That said, I love to travel and even more so if it's to photograph some pups. If you're located outside of South Florida, reach out to me with your location and we'll look into the traveling costs.

HOW DO I BOOK A PHOTOSHOOT?

The first step is to contact me here. We will find a date & time that works for you and your pup. Before the shoot we'll have a brief phone call to discuss any questions & concerns, and also your dog's traits & personality. Once that's set, I will send you an agreement for you to sign, along with an invoice to pay the session fee. I take PayPal and credit cards.

what's THE BEST PLACE FOR THE SHOOT?

The best place is wherever your dog feels the most comfortable and we can capture his/her personality. Some dogs have parks they love, others live for the beach, and some dogs don’t want to leave their owner's bed. We will work around his/her preferences. The most important thing is your dog is comfortable, happy, and safe.

BUT MY DOG DOESN'T STAY STILL OR OBEY COMMANDS?

Dogs will be dogs! And 98.9% of the pups I meet are either hyper, shy or have a mind of their own. Don't we all? I am prepared and have experienced many varied personalities. Keeping my distance from shy dogs and photographing them with a big zoom lens does the trick in order to capture them in their every day activities without them even knowing. Hyper dogs also make for a great variety of images and candids. My super fast camera captures them at 1/1000th of a second so the images come out sharp, still, and picture perfect.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE SHOOT?

Most importantly, bring your dog (of course) groomed and clean, specially around the eyes. If there is a particular collar you like best, feel free to bring that along. I would recommend to stay away from wearing harnesses during the shoot, if possible. A longer leash is always a good idea, this will give us mobility while keeping your pup safe. Also bring his/her favorite treats, all this dog modeling needs to be rewarded. You can also bring his/her favorite toys and outfits. Think about how you want to show his/her personality.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH MORE THAN ONE DOG at a time?

Yes, the more the merrier! The fee for adding additional dogs is $75/each and you can expect about 10 more images per additional dog. The session might have to be a little longer, but don't worry, the pups always have plenty of break time (as much as they need).

HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?

Once we set a date, I will send you a non-refundable invoice for the session fee, payable via PayPal or credit card (and travel fees, if applicable).

WHAT IF I WANT LARGE-scale PRINTS?

If you want prints of your session (and you probably will) we can discuss your custom needs. Prices for prints vary depending on size and material. Some of the most common are large-scale framed prints, acrylic, and canvas.

CAN I ORDER A PHOTO book INSTEAD?

Absolutely, your dog's whimsical images are ideal for creating a photo book and sharing their story. When ordering a photo book, I will design a layout that's customized just for you. Let's think of your lonely coffee table...

WHAT ABOUT PHOTO RETOUCHING?

Because safety is always first - if your dog needs to be leashed, Dogs of Fun will remove the leash of all images that are printed in either wall art or custom albums. All orders of digital files also include leash removal.

HAVE YOU MET ANY FAMOUS DOGS?

Not yet, although I do consider my dogs, Yankee, Harley & Stormy, rock stars.
